We All Need Some Calm


In an age of information overload, schedule overload, work overload we are burning the wick from both ends. All. The. Time.  And since time becomes so limited you need something that can help you daily without taking time away. Oils are the answer. Diffuse, Roll. I created a series on Instagram to share what our favorite oils are for sleep and calm. I names it the Valor + Diamonds Sleep Series, aka #vdsleepseries. For eight days straight I shared our favorite diffuser blends and rollers to support all those calming vibes. I was able to illustrate how incredibly easy it is to incorporate oils into your daily routine.

IMG_5621Day 1: Lavender + Frankincense
Let’s start with these two rockstars! Both of which happen to come in the starter kit! Both of which you won’t be able to do life without one you start oiling. This combination has really grown on me! I wasn’t a fan of the aroma Frank gave off but now I LOVE it, after 3 months of using it daily! I committed myself because I know the benefits far outweigh anything! Proof is our daughter Franki. She has been having sleep issues + is one of the biggest reasons I grabbed a kit, to help + support her needs. I’ve noticed a considerable change in her quality of sleep within the last couple weeks after diffusing ONLY these two at bedtime.

Lavender: Known as the Swiss Army knife of oils. This oil is actually listed in the British Pharmacopoeia…which defines the UK’s pharmaceutical standards. Thought that was cool for all the oil skeptics. Lavender is calming, relaxing, balancing both physically + emotionally. Lavender has been proven to heighten relaxation + reduce stress.

Frankincense: The anointing oil. Did you know this oil was one of the gifts given to Christ at birth. No joke. Frank is said to promote meditation, relaxation and uplifts spirits.


Day 2: Peace & Calming
I haven’t met a person who didn’t like this blend. It’s actually one that tends to get hoarded a lot by oilers. I think because it’s so versatile, for adults, kids (dog babies). This was the VERY FIRST oil I bought outside of the starter kit. For Franki, but now I use it more than her! It’s still my favorite for relaxing. It also makes a great roller! I roll the girls feet after bath time. When diffused, it helps calm tensions + uplift the spirit, promoting relaxation + a deep sense of peace. When massaged on the bottoms of the feet, it can help bring a peaceful night. This one also may be calming + comforting to young children after an overactive + stressful day.

My favorite uses:
+Rub 1-2 drops on the bottom of the feet + on the back of the neck before bedtime to promote sound sleep.
+Apply behind the ears of your pet when he is scared of thunder or stressed.
+Dilute a drop with carrier oil and rub on a child’s tummy or bottom of feet to calm a tantrum. (I made a roller)
+Diffuse in the home or in the car to calm overactive children.


Day 3: Sleepyize
There is a reason I purchase multiple bottles a month. You need this. I can’t mom without it! It’s magical. It comes prediluted + the aroma that lingers in my girls rooms is so pretty. Think that sweet clean newborn smell! And for anyone who is looking for restful sleep or a peaceful + calming environment, just diffuse away!

This blend has…
+Roman chamomile
+Sacred Frankincense

Day 4: Stress Away
This one is my 5 years old’s favorite oil so we diffuse it in her room all the time, especially at night. I mix it with Sleepyize or Lavender + it’s so incredible! She also has a roller of just Stress Away + grapeseed oil that she carries everywhere. She knows to use it when she needs to feel calm or if she is getting worked up. She also rolls it before bed! Below are some of our favorite ways to use this one.

+Diffuse it around your home after a long day for a fresh, soothing aroma.
+Apply to your wrists or back of neck while at work or school for all the calm.
+Add a few drops to a cotton ball and place it in the air vent of your car during long drives or during rush-hour traffic to create a calming environment. Or a car diffuser.
+Send kids to school on test day with it.
+Apply it to your wrists to wear it as a perfume.


Day 5: Gentle Baby
Don’t let the name fool you! Gentle Baby is not just for babies, it’s so relaxing, supports those emotions, may help in reducing stress + promoting restful sleep for bigs + littles. It’s also great for your skin. My favorite way to use it is simple…diffuse. I have one next to my bed at all times. It’s a fresh clean aroma that no one can dislike, men included.
This blend has:
+Ylang Ylang
+Roman Chamomile

If you don’t have this, you do not know what you’re missing!


Day 6: Tranquil Roller
This roller bro! I use this every single night at bedtime on my wrists. It’s heavenly. I’ve started rolling it on the girls as well right before story time. It’s proprietary essential oil combination with a warm, slightly sweet fragrance. Just inhale deeply or roll onto your wrists to enjoy a moment of tranquility.

Having this roller on hand is like inviting a little Zen into your day. It combines Lavender, Cedarwood + Roman Chamomile. It’s become such a fave that it looks like I’ll need to add it to my ER monthly! Some ways to use it:

+Keep a roll-on in your purse or the kids’ backpacks for busy work or test days.
+Apply Tranquil to the bottoms of feet during evening routines.
+Inhale or roll Tranquil over your heart during troubling times for a centering aroma.
+Wind down after a hectic day by applying Tranquil to your neck or shoulders, then massaging for 20–30 seconds.

Day 7: Roman Chamomile
I received this gem for free in my ER order from June + it is currently out of stock. Reason number 12345 why I love Essential Rewards, snagging items that are rare! Once it’s back you must get one before it’s gone! It has a warm, sweet scent that is beyond relaxing + calming for both mind + body. It has that true spa smell. Its gentleness makes it wonderful for kiddos which is always a bonus. I actually used this in Liv’s bath when she was an infant to unwind before bedtime. My favorite ways to us it:

+Place one drop in your hands rub together + inhale deeeeeeply.
+Diffuse around the house when you want to unwind or calm your mind from a crazy day. Love blending with Lavender or Cedarwood.
+Rub on your feet, temples or back of neck for sleep or restlessness.
+Add a couple drops to a bath.


Day 8: Cedarwood
I don’t even have a ton to write about this oil. So good I threw a roller top on it + roll it every single night before bed on my wrists and feet. All the mamas say amen.

Cedarwood is known by some as the “sleepy oil”. Supporting the sleepy hormones. When diffuser it’s calming + comforting. I actually didn’t love it at first but after a month of using it I was hooked. Blend with Lavender + night night.

There are so many oils that I could go on and on about but these are ones that I always recommend starting out with and keeping as a core part of your arsenal.
